To get across these huge deep channels and many tributaries. I would have to flag down a local fisherman in a mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) and ask him for a lift across. Most of the time they would do it out of the kindness of their hearts, but sometimes I would have to barter with fishing hooks or small notes.
