Dr David Livingstone –
This man is a huge inspiration for my exploration of Africa and the Zambezi river.
In my eyes he is the greatest explorer of all time, the man who finally brought slavery to an end on the African continent. The man who battled for years in the wildest parts of Africa in his quest for the source of the Nile and his discoveries across the continent. He was attacked by lions, ravaged by deadly diseases and he survived in a time when Africa was truly wild.
Having been compared to Livingstone from time to time during my walk by the local people, has humoured me, but also been a huge honour.
I cannot be compared to such a great, I am a modern day “explorer” with all the fancy gadgets and means to survive, walking in a time where we are losing all that is left in the place we called wild.
